A warm welcome to our new students: George Stokes, Aidan King, Austin Tutbury
Kia ora koutou,
Welcome to Term 2, everyone; we hope you enjoyed a wonderful Easter break with your loved ones. The tamariki have returned to school refreshed after the break, and eager and ready to learn. It’s so nice to see them all.
We have some exciting news to share with you. Mrs. Hartles welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Blake, who arrived seven weeks early. We are thrilled to report that mother and baby are doing well. Please join us in congratulating Kelsey and Johno on the arrival of their bundle of joy!
We are pleased to welcome Katherine Dixon back to our school community. Katherine will be with us three days a week to cover the release for our teachers, and we are delighted to have her support for the rest of the year.
As we move into Term 2, we also start our Winter Code Sports. Practices have already begun, and there is much excitement as uniforms get sorted, and children prepare for the upcoming season. As parents, we understand the challenges of juggling multiple activities and getting the right child to the right place at the right time with the right gear. Our role of being our children’s sideline cheerleaders kicks in, and we are there to help remind our children to focus on the joy of the game and their own personal development throughout the season.
We are grateful for the many coaches and managers who generously give their time and energy to support our sporting teams. We would not have such a thriving sports community without your dedication and hard work, and we thank you for all that you do.
We look forward to another fantastic term.

Things are ticking along nicely for the Annual PTA Charity Golf Day, which
is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th. We do have four sponsorship spaces
available at $100 per hole. It is a way your business can show your
support of the school at an affordable rate. We are also looking for
spot prizes and team prizes if anyone has a sponsorship cupboard that needs emptying out and you would like to support this event at the same time.
Thank you to our sponsors/supporters so far: Sculpture Hospitality Ltd,
Power Farming-Morrinsville, KPMG, Waikato Pumps, Blue Wallace, Prolorus,
Ingham Automotive, BNZ, Bunnings, Chiefs Rugby, Superior Pet Foods-Paeroa,
Good George and Kukri. We very much appreciate your contribution to making
this event a success.
In other news, Maahuri were the winners of the Colour Run free lunch. The
PTA will shout Pizzas and Hot Chips next Wednesday, May 3rd.
Kind regards,
Merynn Connors
Chairperson

Saturday morning Music Classes
Enrolments are now open for Term Two 2023 at the Waikato Community School of Music. The first session is on Saturday, 29th April. The school caters for all ages (3 to retired) and ability levels, offering group-format and one-to-one music tuition in various instruments. Group-format class fees range from $45 to $110 per term (8 lessons in Term Two) depending on student age and the instrument chosen. The enrolment fee for an instrument class includes participation in as many of our ensembles as the student wishes. Enrolment in ensembles only is also an option. One-to-one classes can aid in preparing for exams and earning NCEA credits.
Class times are between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm on Saturdays during primary school terms. WCSM is located on the University of Waikato campus in Hillcrest.
