Principal's Message
Ngaa mihi nui ki a koutou katoa,
Warm greetings to all of you, and welcome to Term 4! There are many exciting events to look forward to this term, including Athletics, Orini Fun Day, the Kaakano trip to the A & P show, Book Week, Greats and Grands Day, the Kaakano 2 sleepover, Year 3 and 4 Camp, Student-Led Conferences, P.T.A Disco, Christmas Picnic, Year 7 and 8 Waimarino trip, and our End of Year Prize Givings. It's a busy term that flies by quickly.
On Tuesday, we had a very successful Agricultural Day. Agricultural Day has been an annual tradition at Puketaha School, dating back to the 1960s. Back then, Puketaha students were mostly from farming families in the local area. Over the years, our school community has grown to include a mixture of farming, lifestyle, and urban families. Ag Day serves as a great reminder of our agricultural heritage, and this year's event was one of our largest Ag Days.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Stephanie Philburn and our office manager, Christine Jeffery, for their work in organising the event. We would also like to thank the parents who helped set up and all the parents who supported their children in raising animals to participate in the day. It was inspiring to see the students leading, calling, and talking about how they raised their animals, which demonstrated the effort and time they invested in preparing for this event. Well done to all the competitors and their animals.
This term, in addition to the exciting events, our teaching team will conduct more assessments with the tamariki and compile all the assessment information to make an Overall Teacher Judgment regarding each child's progress within the Curriculum. These decisions will be reflected in the End of Year written reports, which will be sent home at the end of the year. Our Student-Led Conferences will be an opportunity for you to see how your child has been progressing as well.
We look forward to seeing all of you at the events this term!
Kia pai too raa. Have a good day.
