Kia ora koutou,
Not long now for the Spring Fair. Everyone is very excited, and we can’t wait to see you all there. Thank you to our families for your support with items to sell and all the helpers we have for Saturday.
We recently held our Board of Trustees election and had our first Board of Trustees meeting for the new three-year cycle. Firstly, I would like to acknowledge our outgoing board members, Phil Webster (6 years) and Kylie Morgan (3 years). To Phil and Kylie, thank you so much for your dedication and service to our school. You both invested many hours, and we value your thoughtful input into our Kura.
Our new board has three new members; welcome to Dylan Shell, Paula Haman, and Adam Bradstreet, as well as Simon Perry and Renika Siciliano, who were existing members and were re-elected. Renika is our new Presiding Member, and Dylan is taking on the role of Treasurer. We are grateful to have such a well-balanced board, and we look forward to working with you over the next three years.
In other news, after 22 years of teaching at Puketaha School, Katherine Dixon, our Assistant Principal and teacher in Roopuu Kaakano 2, has decided to resign from teaching at the end of this year. She has not taken this decision lightly, but she is excited about moving out of education and trying something new. Katherine is such a fantastic teacher and a knowledgeable, wise leader. We will miss her a lot, but it’s also lovely to see her excited about the possibilities ahead.
Many of you may know Deb Gibbison, currently on maternity leave. She has decided that instead of returning to teaching full-time next year, she wants to spend this precious time with her son while he’s still little. If we are lucky, she might be able to teach the odd day here and there next year so that we can stay connected.
On a happy note, we have a public holiday on Monday, so we hope you have a fantastic long weekend with your whaanau!
Ngaa mihi

Spring Fair
Some very excited children are counting down to this weekend’s big event and planning in what order they are checking out events/stalls. I hope the weather gods are kind to us!! Bring a jacket, regardless!
Just a few reminders, please drop off goods for the garage sale by 9 am Friday to allow time for sorting and pricing. Plus, there is a Friday afternoon garage sale pre-sale for Puketaha School parents/caregivers/teachers only from 2.30 pm-4 pm. This gives those busy on stalls on Saturday, and our community has to first look over donated goods. We will be selling tickets for the activity events at the fair to streamline cash handling. One ticket = $2; bundle deals are available Friday at the garage sale pre-sale (plus again on Saturday) $20 buys 12 tickets, $50 buys 30 tickets. EFTPOS is available for ticket sales. Bring cash for a garage sale. Please check out our Spring Fair map for clarification.
Baking can be dropped into Kaakano 2 on Friday or Saturday morning (Set up-time for this stall is 9-10 am). Please package it appropriately for sale. Please clearly label any Gluten Free or Dairy Free items.
As for plants, these can be dropped off Friday afternoon and left undercover outside the school office or dropped off on Saturday morning in their set-up time between 9 am-10 am (Down by the Big Kids Playground.) Again, please label clearly if you can.
Thank you so much to those who have signed up to help with the various stalls. If you have committed to support, be prepared to do your stint as others may have to be elsewhere. Also, if you see a stall struggling to keep up and have some free time, please offer to help. Thanks to all the Year 7/8s who are providing significant help this year. Your involvement is critical to this event’s success.
Funds raised from this event have been earmarked for new stage lighting in the PAC, plus enhancements to outdoor learning spaces.
Plus, thank you to all the sponsors, the companies who have donated goods, and the PTA for all chipping in to make this day happen.
Ngaa mihi Nui,
Merynn Connors

The boys were able to attend the All Blacks Captain's run and have Sam Cane draw the raffle for them. He drew number 132, sold by Matthew to Mark O'Brien. We just want to say thank you so much to all the families who supported the boys by buying a ticket. The team had an amazing week, playing some awesome basketball, but also having the experience of being part of a team in a huge tournament. They had a blast!
