Dear Parents, Caregivers and Children,
Last Friday as I walked into school around 5.30pm the vibe was magic. Our Year 2's were full of energy and our community culture was visible for all to see. Tents were being placed up, families helping each other, BBQ's underway and laughter was in abundance. You couldn't help but walk in and be drawn into the positivity of the environment. At the core of it was of course people and every now and then as we get caught up in the busyness of life, we must pause and absorb those moments.
In assembly yesterday morning, I chatted to the children about a weekend experience I had with Amy and the boys. I heard so many good things about this real fruit ice cream cafe 'Camarosa'. So on Sunday we headed down to enjoy the treat that is an ice cream on a sunny Sunday afternoon. It did live up to its reputation and it vanished faster than a crumb that drops on the floor when our dog Archie is around. Man it was good! After this we headed off to our local strawberry farm on Seddon Road, owned by the Kung family from school. There is something therapeutic about picking your own fruit, fresh from the ground. I would recommend it to all.
The reason for sharing this message is that at this time of year we often have several big events to look forward to and place our attention on. In doing so we can unintentionally miss out on enjoying some of the many small pleasures that can happen daily or unplanned. Our days are often filled with moments to celebrate, enjoy and be thankful for, we just have to take a step back, notice them and then appreciate it.
So as we build into Christmas and the events that surround it, I encourage you all to look for the many small moments that make you smile, laugh or bring you purpose. They are there, you just need to be present with them.
Warm regards
Geoff
