Dear Parents, Caregivers and Children,
While the success of a Sports Day like yesterday is not the complete measure of a school and its culture it is one lens where you are able to observe, appreciate and be involved in it.
Yesterday's Athletics Day simulated just that. Firstly, our children. They were spot on. Their effort, courage and spirit towards each other really showed the wonderful character that sits within them. As as a staff we were all really proud with how they embraced the day. Secondly, our families and supporters. From where I was I only heard positive messages from the sideline, providing the boost our children needed or encouragement to pick them up, the pitch of the messaging was encouraging.
Our PTA once again supported the refuelling of our children and showcased the real unity they have. The gluttony of baking which many mums (maybe some dads....) provided shows the connect our community have with providing for our children.
Finally, our staff. The energy, effort and joy they have for seeing the children experience challenge and success is exactly what we are after when trying to nurture and grow wonderful young people, which essentially is our core purpose.
Thank you for all those that were able to make it yesterday and well done to all our children who competed with purpose and a smile.
"If you engage with a culture, if you’re part of an organism, you’ll do better understanding the system that it lives in" (Seth Godin).
Warm Regards
Geoff
Please see below our staffing matrix for 2021. As you will see there are very little changes for next year, which provides an opportunity to build on the many learnings and progress we have made over this. It also means we are fortunate in being able to minimise disruption for 2021 with regards to staffing, considering the disruptive nature of this year.
We do see one change with Miss Richardson moving into Roopu Maahuri and Mrs Khoo moving into Roopu Puuawai 5/6. With the large Year 6 cohort for next year we see that Nicky moving through with the Year 5's from Maahuri will add real value into supporting their transition.
As per normal Kaitiaki Classes will be displayed up on the PAC window on the last day of the school year.

Many thanks to those businesses, individuals & families who have supported the swimming pool project so far. The response from our community has been great. Sponsorship, which includes a named plaque at the pool is still available - either via Kindo or by emailing the school office.
Please see below some photos of progress to date.
We are starting a collection of non-perishable items to be delivered to the Salvation Army in Hamilton. A donation towards this appeal would be appreciated.

Variety Club
Now is a great time for families/whānau to sign up to Kiwi Kid Sponsorship to ensure kids and young people have everything they need over the holidays and for Term 1 - 2021. Getting organised now means Variety has enough time to process a child’s application and find them a sponsor so they can access their funding in time for the new school year. Applications are all online and easy to complete.
If you know of any children who could benefit from sponsorship, or siblings of those already on the programme aged 4-17, please encourage them, and assist where possible to submit an application online or by using the Sibling Request Form.
All children who are NZ citizens or residents aged 4-17 are eligible for KKS and there is no limit on the number of kids sponsored in a family.
