Dear Parents, Caregivers and Children,
The vibe of Summer Sports has really started to kick in and it is wonderful to hear and see all the various experiences and successes of the children within their various codes. The learning's that exist within sports I hope are never lost on us. They are often learning's that not only shape us in the short term, but last with us for a life time.
Last week we received some news that we have been working towards for 18 months now. We have finally been given approval from the Ministry of Education to build our new school pool. Today I met with the three major construction providers to sync diaries and we hope to start construction within the coming month, starting with the demolition of the existing structure. This is a once in a 50 year project and for us as a school and wider community will ensure the longevity of a swimming programme for our children for generations. As a school and Board of Trustees we are very excited to be at this point today.
With regards to funding we would love to offer the opportunity for Sponsorship. As families you may also want to look back over time and take comfort that with your added support you were able to help make this project happen. We are offering brick size plaques which will be placed on the south side of the new changing sheds for an amount of $300 - $500. On this plaque you can either have your family name or business name on it. There is no limit in the number you may wish to purchase. A pamphlet will be sent home with your child today with a bit more information.
Last week our Year 5/6 travelled to Camp Raglan and despite the weather conditions had a magic time. On the Thursday morning after camp I had a lovely conversation with a parent. Her sentiments were that she felt so privileged to be a part of the wonderful community we have and that her time at camp with both children and parents simply reinforced that for her. I listened, and could only agree. It is the people that make up our community and we are all very lucky.
On a final note, as the days warm up please double check the children have their hats with them and a water bottle. As the school days are quite busy for the children they can often forget to drink, a water bottle nearby helps support them with this.
Warm Regards
Geoff

Students are in school when ultraviolet radiation levels are at their peak. Sun protection is an important part of being Sunsmart.
Please send your children along to school with a hat to wear outside at break times.
