Dear Parents, Caregivers and Children,
Since our last newsletter, we have experienced once again some significant and swift change with the way we go about our daily activity. As a result this has created a range of responses and emotions. As mentioned previously, there is no correct way with how to feel or respond. We don't have a 'play book' with this particular event. However, what we must do is draw on our values and use them to help guide us with our responses to the consistently revolving door we find ourselves in.
In regards to school procedures, we are thankful to the many parents and grandparents who are using the school app (please note, this is not the NZCovid Tracer app) to log in when entering our school site. This is a requirement placed on us to track and trace all visitors to our school. Please continue to do this. A couple of things to consider on this while we remain in Level 2.
- Only enter the school grounds for drop off from 8.30am and pick up from 2.45pm. Please do not enter earlier than that. This morning we had over 30 children onsite, not being supervised, by 8.15am. I need to be consistent on this, if you have to drop your child off before 8.30am you need to use our before school care provider YMCA. We can not have children onsite, unsupervised for obvious reasons. Please support us with this.
- The Community Hall gate will not have a staff member there in the morning from next week. If you would like to enter with your child for drop off in the morning please use the Sainsbury Road gate only.
- The NZCovid Tracer app is for recording your movements and is a personal tracer. This is displayed at both entrances. Please note it does not replace our school app for sign in. You must use our school app for sign in if you wish to enter the school grounds for drop off and pick up. All other times we ask you come to the school office for sign in as per normal.
- Our children are still being reminded to wash their hands on arrival at school and are using the all day hand sanitiser product Zoono.
This Monday morning just been, I read a quick blog about Needs and Wants that considering the current climate I wanted to share as it resonated with me.
Wants and needs
You’re unlikely to get everything you want. That’s a good thing, because wants are part of what define us.
It’s entirely possible that you’ll get most of what you need, though.
The trick is in being clear about what you put into each category.
This afternoon I would like to leave you with that challenge and the consideration with, how tricky actually is it? Maybe... we need to more frequently treat our wants like 'the second chocolate' we go to grab?
Warm Regards
Geoff
