Kia Ora Koutou,
We are very excited about our Colour Run next week and the fundraising is going very well. All children will be able to participate and it's best to wear old white clothes. The children will be coming home very very messy next Wednesday 26th, so be prepared for soap and showers when they get home. Please also feel free to come along and watch the fun!
Introducing our School Board
Puketaha School has a strong Board that is working hard in the background to oversee the governance of the school, setting the school’s direction, monitoring school finances, property, health and safety, engaging in student achievement and attendance and ensuring legal compliance. Some of their key duties include supporting the Principal, developing policies, and representing the community during the decision-making process.

To remedy the last of the smoke smell, Kaakano 1 will be getting the rest of the carpet tiles replaced as well as a new ceiling. This work will take place in the April holidays. The blinds have also been removed and are currently being remade.
There is a new vehicle gate and fence being installed by the bus bay area.
There is no news from the MOE to report on the rebuild of the PAC or the classroom.
The Waste Water System upgrade is complete. We are now waiting for that to be signed off so we can start planning the reinstatement and upgrade of the Junior Kids Playground.

PTA News
Thanks for those who attended the PTA AGM on Tuesday night. We reflected on the 2024 financial year and it was revealed that we had a record income of over $47,000 which was a testament to our community’s support for this school. Donations to the school were $35,000. We were in a strong financial position to start this year. In the annual election of officers and Sharyn and myself retain the positions of Treasurer & Chairperson (unopposed) and due to Sonay’s resignation as Secretary, Shannon Belosevic was voted in for that position. Thank you Sonay for doing that job for the last two years.
The Golf Day last Sunday was another success, thank you to all to all the sponsors, participants, auction winners (especially Joe Olliver ) and to the Hukanui Golf Club themselves.
Coming up this Saturday (22nd) we have two stalls at the Puketaha Community Hall’s Market Day and need some helpers for this. We will be selling books and bric-a brac items. Donations welcome. Remember that we have very limited storage space at school so items can be dropped off on the day at 8.30am at the hall at set-up. Please let me know if you are available to help out. The market runs from 10am-2pm.
Next Wednesday (26th) we have the Colour Run. This is our major event for the year and sponsorship donations so far have been amazing. If there are willing helpers for this we have at least one sponsor who can’t be there to throw the colour so we will need helpers for set up and cleanup so if you could help at all with this let me know also. Please remember your children will be wet and covered in paint powder. Please bring a change of clothes for the car ride home, and maybe a sheet/towel for them to sit on in the car. Also as much as we try to avoid throwing paint near the face it may pay to have a pair of goggles or sunglasses to avoid powder in the eyes. The children are getting very excited. A reminder that all kids are invited to participate and it would be good to wear white or light coloured clothing.
Many thanks to our Colour Run Sponsors: Hamilton Fencing; Westpac; Hamilton Industrial Powder Coating; Pool Clean; The Moment Catchers; Lawn Solutions; Anything Communications Ltd & Safeguard Self Storage.
Kind regards,
Merynn Connors
