Dear Parents, Caregivers and Children,
As Easter approaches and the change of season awaits in the close distance we naturally start to reflect on the season that has been and the many opportunities we experienced and relationships we have been lucky to build and strengthen. And while the term is far from over, Easter does allow us to appreciate the start of new beginnings, whatever they may be for people.
Over the last couple of days we have had the privilege of connecting with you throughout our SLC’s. But more importantly your children have had the chance to share with you their learning, goals and demonstrate in their own way how they are building their learner agency and taking greater ownership of it. It reminds us that learning is an active process and no longer must our children be passive recipients of knowledge where they sit on the sidelines and watch learning being done to them. These conferences are such an important part of our annual calendar and we all very much enjoyed sharing your child’s learning to date.
Thursday last week Katherine, Nyree and I held our Parent Information Evening on Learner Agency, while only a very boutique number of parents attended it was nice to connect and showcase how we aim to build agency within our learners. I have attached the slide here for your viewing. Hopefully, this gives you some idea with what was covered.
As the week draws to an end we also celebrate Book Week. I personally love Book Week! It demonstrates to us all that despite the not so recent influx of digital tools, books still play an important part in our lives in nurturing the ever so important love for reading. Thank you to Whaea Emma for her efforts in putting Book Week together.
Finally, I would like to finish off by saying thank you to you all for your contribution in making our community the wonderful one that it is.
