Kia ora koutou,
Our learning programmes are in full swing here at Puketaha School and our students have been enjoying some of the enrichment programmes that we offer, such as our Leadership Programmes for our Year 7 and 8's with the Waikato Institute of Leadership and Sports 'Looking to Lead Programme' and our 'Shine Girls' programme. We also have a number of students practising for their Epro8 engineering event and the ASB Get Wise Financial Literacy programme with our Roopuu Puaawai 7/8's. Our Try-Challenge was another great day and our tamariki did so well, putting in 100% effort even in the rain.
Last week we held our first School Board meeting for the year, where Adam Bradstreet was elected as our Presiding Member. Congratulations to Adam and we know he will do an amazing job. We pass on our thanks to Renika, who was our previous Presiding Member. We appreciate all her mahi and wisdom and we are glad to have one more year with her on the Board.
Below is a little blurb from each of our Board members...
Next week our Year 7 and 8 students are heading to the Tongariro Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre for their one-week adventure and leadership camp. We are very excited for them! We are grateful we can offer our students experiences like this and we appreciate the whaanau support.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your week and have a lovely weekend,
Ngaa mihi,
Nyree Olliver
Try Challenge
Many thanks to those who helped with the PTA Stall at the Try Challenge. Whether it was by donating some goodies to sell, helping sell, or buying said goodies, your help was much appreciated. The weather at times was awful so we were delighted with the support we received despite the bad conditions!
Golf Day
We are now taking registrations for our 4th Annual Puketaha PTA Golf Day on March 24th. Please note the new venue of the Hukanui Golf Club. Get a team together and come and join the fun/frivolity and support the school at the same time. It is a 9 hole Ambrose event so caters for all levels of ability. All teams walk away with a prize. We are looking for sponsors (hole sponsors $100 per hole, plus prize sponsors- anything welcome!).
Nothing Naughty Protein Bars
Your child will be soon be bringing home an order form for Nothing Naughty Protein Bars. These are the healthy treat which we sold a couple of years ago so a lot of your will be familiar with them. We will have a digital link also to the order form. The box size has changed from last time (from 10 to 12) so we will allow half boxes to be purchased this time. Our pricing is very competitive at $15 for a half box and $30 for a box of 12. Please, as with anything we try and do if it is not your jam please do not feel any pressure to purchase, but for those who like them then jump on board and spread the word. Currently we are fundraising for Kapa Haka uniforms and science resources.
Our next meeting on March 19th is our AGM so starts at the earlier time of 7pm. All welcome.
Kind regards,
Merynn Connors

"Felicity uses assessment data to strengthen areas of need with the learners. She can engage the learners and breaks down the mathematical concepts to help them understand. She is supportive, and the students enjoy working with her."
