A warm welcome to our new students Ellie Buchanan & Frankie-Mae Beckett
Kia ora koutou,
Last Thursday we had our Greats and Grands Day and what a special day it was. We had a huge number of Greats and Grands come for the event. Our tamariki performed Kapahaka to welcome everyone and then took their Greats and Grands to the learning environments to share their learning and take part in some activities. It was heartwarming to see the tamariki with their special guests, the students were absorbing all the positive attention and it was lovely to see so many smiles.
On some other news, sadly for us Kelsey Hartles who is currently on maternity leave, has resigned from her position for 2024. She has the opportunity to work part-time from home which is ideal for her and her little girl Blake. We know Kelsey won't be a stranger and although we are sad she is not returning, she has promised to visit and bring cupcakes for the staff.
We have been really lucky to have Ashlee Walsh covering Kelsey this year. Unfortunately for us, Ashlee has accepted another position at a school closer to where she lives. Ashlee has been travelling quite a distance each day to get to us so we understand why she has decided to teach at a school closer to her home. Ashlee has been an awesome addition to the Puketaha team, the students have loved her as a teacher and she will be missed. We wish her all the best for her next adventure.
We are in the process of advertising for a position for 2024. Once we have completed that process, we will be able to confirm teacher placement for next year.
The warmer weather has been approaching. Thank you for supporting your children with being sun safe with their hats and sunscreen each day.
Have a wonderful rest of your week.
Ngaa mihi,
Nyree Olliver

Thanks to those people who donated their spare New World MasterChef cookware stickers to us. We managed to get a couple of saucepans, a roasting dish, a fry-pan and three sets of utensils. These will be used as prizes for an event further down the track or for a raffle perhaps. And in a similar vein, thank you to those who collected Yummy stickers; we have purchased using the sticker money some netballs, rugby, soccer and some basketballs that we will use as kids prizes for an event in the future. Plus we purchased a game which we will use at next Year’s Spring Fair. We will do this again next year so please keep collecting the Yummy Fruit Co stickers over summer - the sticker charts can be found on their website https://www.yummyfruit.co.nz/schools/
A big shout out to Safeguard Self Storage (Shannon and Brani Belosevic) who have donated the school/PTA a unit to store all these goods we are storing for future events. What a fantastic facility you have.

Meal Train for a Puketaha Family in Need
We have a family in our school community who are going through a rough time at the moment. Meal Train is a website that a community can use to volunteer to cook a meal for a family in need, you then drop it off at the school office. The meal is then delivered to the recipients. If this is something you would like to be involved in, please click the link below. Thank you in advance to those who can contribute.
